25 Things You Didn’t Know About Meredith

From singer-songwriter to model to TV host, bet you didn’t know these 25 things about Meredith!

01. If you were stranded on a desert island, what beauty product couldn’t you live without?

Lip balm. I always have 2 or 3 in every purse, glove compartment, and pocket. A good lippy is an immediate mood boost!

02. As your love of music runs deep, and you began your career as a singer, what’s your go to karaoke song?

I love a good duet karaoke moment but if I’m up there alone you’re going to get The Chicks Not Ready To Make Nice, Lisa Loeb Stay or Meredith Brooks B*itch.

03. How did you start out in the arts + media industry?

Arts was just in me from the beginning, my parents could see how much I responded to music so they got me into every lesson and class they could (very grateful for that nurturing) and then media came very much by chance, I googled ‘how to host a radio show?’ and just kept saying yes to the opportunities that presented themselves.

04. What’s a movie that you could recite from your heart?

Mrs. Doubtfire. Front to back, back to front, I got that one memorised FOR LIFE.

05. What “era” are you in right now?

I’m in my teamwork era. One of the benefits of getting older is finding your people, the ones you will move through life with, create change with, fail with, succeed with. I am very lucky to be surrounded by great humans that I love and that love me. Let’s see what we can do!

06. What’s your favourite vacation tradition?

Whenever I go away, I always look for a mug by a local potter because that way when I have my morning coffee at home, I get to go there in my mind, mini morning vacays! I love my collection of unmatched mugs… Rodney Bowers does not (LOL!)

07. What’s your favourite comfort meal?

I love my mum’s carrot ginger soup, it always reminds me of good times around the dinner table growing up.

08. What are the little things that make you happy?

My dog Lucy’s face makes me incredibly happy, my stumbly journey into being a gardener, the feeling of getting into bed with fresh sheets, being out on the water, taking off my bra LOL

09. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

My superpower would be to make everyone feel worthy of love and that they are absolutely enough just as they are. Why? Because I think the world would be a very different place if we were able to all live lives from a place of wholeness. But also, flying sounds fun!

10. What TV channel doesn’t exist but really should?

The Ryan Gosling Channel. Non stop RG movies 24/7.

11. You have ten minutes to get glam! What are your must haves?

My day to day face definitely takes only 10 minutes (not when I’m on set) but when it’s just me at home, I use a tinted moisturiser, concealer, gimme brow (Benefit) eyebrow tint, mascara (IT Cosmetics Superhero), bronzer/blush (Cheekbone Beauty), lipgloss that I use on my lips and then dab a bit on my cheeks for some gleam. Check out my fave beauty items right here!

12. City vs. Country?

Ooooh, TOUGH. I’m a city girl born and raised but I have a major pull these days to the COUNTRY (must be my Alberta roots… big sky country!)

13. Heels, flats or sneakers?

I love me an ‘elevated’ sneaker aka a fancy sneaker that I can wear with many outfits but still be super comfortable on the move. My overall style tends to be a little more on the posh side, so I always go for a more casual shoe to add contrast.

14. When are you most inspired?

In the quiet moments, I need space for my mind to wander—otherwise I’m very task/to do list oriented… give me a long walk on a bright cool day and the ideas FLOW!

15. Biggest strength?

My ability to think ahead and my authentic desire to connect with others.

16. Must-have clothing item everyone should have?

The item will be different for everyone, but we should all have an item that makes us feel affirmed and excited. Your go to that will always make you feel your best. If you’re reading this and think, I don't have that, find it! Mine is a full sparkle metallic jumpsuit.

17. If you could have someone else’s closet, who would it be?

Ashley Graham. She always looks gorgeous and effortlessly cool. I would love to dive into her inclusive designer pieces.

18. Do you prefer vintage or new?

I’d love to be able to shop vintage but I find the sizing challenging. I always love pieces with history but generally for my wardrobe, it’s new (unless it’s consigned! Love me a good Consign Your Curves find!)

19. What is your favourite fashion trend of all time?

The wrap dress.

20. What’s the biggest learning experience you’ve had?

Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. REPEAT. Anytime I find myself stuck in a battle of expectation or perfection, I say that mantra out loud. Good is good enough and the pursuit of anything else often blocks the magic.

21. What’s a cause that’s important to you?

Girls Inc and Dress For Success are both causes that I've been involved with over the years because of the important work they do mentoring and community building.

22. What song can you listen to on repeat?

My general pattern with songs is that I listen to them NON STOP, over and over again and then I move onto the next. That being said, I will never turn off All Night Long by Lionel Richie or anything off Sarah McLachlan’s Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.

23. What’s one item on your Bucket List that you have yet to cross off?

My bucket list generally revolves around travel. I have never been to Italy—Tuscany specifically—and I’d just love to see that gorgeous countryside.

24. Your go to for having a good laugh?

One of the many reasons I said YES to Rodney Bowers is because he can always produce a good laugh in me, no matter the circumstances.

25. What’s your favourite time of day?

Morning. ;)
