Body Language: Style
We dive into the world of style: what it means to us, what we want to see on offer in our size, the use & misuse of the word INCLUSIVE.
This conversation gets challenging at times, because it forces us to face our own limitations & biases, pushing things into the light that need to be seen, felt & made better.
This episode features
@misslionhunter is a visual story teller originally from Zimbabwe moving to Canada to study at Acadia University. Musemo is a stylist, fashion creative and known for her #TedTalk: Fat and Black with the Audacity to be a Badass. As a style writer she has contributed to HuffPost, Fashion Magazine, Essence Magazine & CBC. A true original, I am in love with her take on fashion & always look forward to her posts.
@hilarymacmillan is one of Canada’s most talked about designers who launched her namesake brand 6 years ago with a mission: female led, cruelty free, designer women’s clothing with extended sizing. Garnering international attention with her feminism-inspired varsity jackets - this is a designer who GETS what plus size fashionistas want. It’s always a good day when I’m wearing HM.
@marielle.elizabeth is a plus size ethical fashion blogger, style writer, brand photographer and social media maven. Her work has appeared in VOGUE. Nuff said. She continually & effectively adds her voice to the call for ethically made garments & goods, to challenge makers to design for all body types & to encourage us all to invest in quality over quantity. I am so honoured to have had her voice in this conversation.
